Arts Education Facilitator

Class specifications are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees in the class. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job and/or department.

DEFINITION

To implement and facilitate a year-round Arts In Education program in partnership with Campbell County School District plus community partners, organizations, and individuals to provide long term quality arts integration, and to enhance educational process and quality of life in Campbell County.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Exercise technical and functional supervision over on-site artists.

Receive direction from Theater Manager.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Work with Fine Arts Task Force, Theater Manager, CCSD art and music facilitators and other teachers to establish, review, and help develop events and programs that would be beneficial to students with emphasis on critical based integration of the Arts in the community; evaluate programs to develop and enhance educational opportunities for various groups.
  2. Act as a liaison between the Cam-Plex Heritage Center and local schools and community entities to distribute program information and updates.
  3. Work with artists to develop in-service workshops that are geared toward teachers, administrators, and local artists.
  4. Develop internal and external residency programs for touring artists in schools and the community.
  5. Utilize educational materials and identify speakers and other individuals who could act as classroom resources.
  6. Schedule and arrange events for resident and touring artists.
  7. Represent the Cam-Plex Heritage Center as a member of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to schools and partners in education.
  8. Coordinate with other community organizations for special celebrations and other opportunities related to appropriate series events.
  9. Develop and schedule pre and post performance lectures and discussions for the community and the school district to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of performing and visual arts events.
  10. Maintain appropriate and accurate records of the Arts in Education programs and activities to be combined into an annual report; prepare, tabulate, and evaluate materials for education activities.
  11. Work with arts and marketing teams to plan publication schedule of materials to be used to promote seasonal events; interact with media channels to promote public awareness of the Arts in Education program; develop and implement a marketing plan that enhances the enrollment of students and teachers for workshops, residences and school performances.
  12. Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, facilitate discussion, address post-meeting details and decisions, and follow-up on assignments with the Fine Arts Task Force.
  13. Be available for public speaking engagements on the Arts in Education Program and the Arts Endowment.
  14. Administer, monitor, and coordinate Arts In Education budget.
  15. Write grants and obtain necessary funding to support the Arts in Education programs.
  16. Arrange for and provide necessary supplies and equipment for workshops, residences and Arts in Education related meetings.  Arrange transportation, house stays, and other accommodations for artists.
  17. Arrange recognition for the supporters of the Arts in Education programs.
  18. Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
  19. Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.

JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of:

    • Arts in Education program.
    • Programming for the public.
    • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
    • Principles and practices of data collection and report preparation.
    • Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.
    • Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration.
    • Principles and practices of grants administration, preparation, and compliance.
    • Principles and practices of safe driving.
    • Principles and practices of working safely.

    Skill to:

    • Operate modern office equipment.
    • Operate a motor vehicle safely.

    Ability to:

    • Implement the Arts in Education program.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
    • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and time lines.
    • Compile and prepare a variety of reports.
    • Prepare and administer budget.
    • Research and seek grant funding.
    • Write, review and edit grant proposals.
    • Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

    Experience:

    • One to two years experience in the field of Education or the Arts.

    Education/Training:

    • Equivalent to a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Arts, Education, or related field.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATE OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must be current or obtained within a specified time frame as defined upon employment.

    • Valid driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Essential duties require the following:

    Working Environment:

    • Minimal exposure to undesirable working conditions or exposure.  Work flexible hours as needed.

    Physical Activities:

    • Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for minimal physical activity such as sitting, standing, and walking. Lifting an average of 10 lbs.
