Early Intervention Inclusion Supervisor

DEFINITION
To provide for a comprehensive early intervention program for children birth through age five to include the supervision of early intervention instructors, coteaching, screening,
assessment, intervention, transition, and case management services in line with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Rules and Regulations Governing Services to Children with Disabilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Exercise direct supervision over the Early Intervention Instructors and personnel.
Receive direction and supervision from Early Intervention Coordinator.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervise and train Early Intervention Instructors; conduct performance appraisals and meet with Early Intervention Instructors for Reflective Supervision.
- Provide/Coordinate training on the inclusion philosophy of Early Intervention.
- Participate in the selection of new Early Intervention staff; conduct orientation and training.
- Ensure the implementation of the early intervention inclusive program using best practices, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and appropriate Early Childhood learning
environments.
- Ensure the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and the Early Intervention data systems.
- Attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Assure and facilitate effective co-teaching strategies.
- Attend, coordinate and participate in appropriate therapist, classroom, weekly team and management meetings to assure inclusive best practices and coordination of services.
- Assist in the development of materials and activities to meet the individual needs of children.
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State Rules and Regulations by implementation of a records and file management system to maintain accountability.
- Maintain appropriate and effective communication with families, staff and community.
- Perform screening and assessments as needed.
- Plan, supervise and implement Child Find Activities.
- Coordinate Part B and Part C of IDEA transition process with Early Intervention Coordinator.
- Inform Early Intervention Coordinator of children's classroom programs and individual children/family issues.
- Oversee effective implementation of transportation system with Early Intervention Coordinator.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge and development; serve on
committees as assigned.

Knowledge of:
- Normal and atypical development.
- Developmentally appropriate and inclusionary practices.
- Medical conditions and disabilities that effect children and their development.
- State of the art therapy and teaching techniques in early childhood.
- Various behavioral techniques to enable the child to be successful in learning.
- Various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Rules and Regulations Governing Services to Children with Disabilities.
- Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA).
- Principles and practices of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
Skill to:
- Operate modern office equipment
Ability to:
- Assess developmental abilities of preschool age children.
- Relate to adults and children of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Effectively and efficiently manage time.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff.
- Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent to experience and
training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Experience:
- Three to four years experience in early intervention/early childhood program.
Education/Training:
- Minimum qualifications of a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Education and or related discipline
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must be current or obtained within a specified time frame as defined upon employment.
- Wyoming Certification in Early Childhood Special Education.
- CPR/First Aid.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Essential duties require the following:
Working Environment:
- Moderate exposure to working outdoors and body fluids.
Physical Activities:
- Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for minimal physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking, running, kneeling,
couching/stooping/squatting, crawling, twisting upper body, climbing and lifting an average of 50 lbs.
