Infant Education Instructor

DEFINITION
To provide special education/early intervention and family service coordination to infants, toddler's, and preschool children birth to age five and their families while adhering to
the Rules and Regulations Governing Services to Children with Disabilities and ensure compliance with Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Exercise no supervision.
Receive direction from Early Intervention Coordinator.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Actively participate in the trans-disciplinary team; meet with other staff members as necessary to ensure effective service delivery and communication.
- Complete and maintain necessary paperwork/case documentation to ensure accountability.
- Administer developmental screening to children from birth through age five as requested by referrals from agencies, practitioners, families, and/or staff; strictly adhere to all
federal/state rules and regulations governing children with disabilities.
- Conduct evaluation of children in need of more in-depth developmental assessment ; compile findings and recommendations into the trans-disciplinary team report; develop IEP/IFSP
objectives in coordination with the team and the family in order to meet the needs of the child; coordinate screening and evaluation of related service personnel as deemed appropriate.
- Develop materials for implementation of services within the home environment.
- Counsel and assist families in understanding their child's program for effective carryover into the home.
- Actively pursue current trends in Family Service Coordination and state of the art techniques in early intervention services.
- Assist in writing goals and objectives for grant applications; compile necessary information for end-of-year grant reports.
- Provide professional presentations to individuals or groups.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the Early Head Start program in the implementation of the IFSP for those children who are dually served.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.

JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of effective home visiting and Family Service Coordination.
- Normal and atypical child development.
- Medical conditions and disabilities affecting children and their development.
- Early childhood teaching techniques and practices.
- Early childhood behavioral techniques.
- Wyoming Rules and Regulation governing services to children with disabilities.
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.
- Interpersonal skills in order to deal with families and children regarding unique and sensitive issues.
- Principles and practices of working safely.
Skill to:
- Operate modern office equipment.
Ability to:
- Adapt teaching techniques to each individual child.
- Work effectively with infants, toddlers, and their families.
- Maintain licensing requirements.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate new methods, procedures, and techniques.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Relate to adults and children from all levels of the socio-economic structure.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent to experience and
training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Experience:
- Three to four years experience working with infants, toddlers and their families.
Education/Training:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must be current or obtained within a specified time frame as defined upon employment.
- Early Childhood certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Essential duties require the following:
Working Environment:
- Moderate exposure to undesirable working conditions or exposure; working outdoors and body fluids.
Physical Activities:
- Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate physical acitivity such as sitting, standing, walking, running, kneeling,
couching/stooping/squatting, crawling, twisting upper body, climbing, and lifting an average of 45 lbs.
