Marketing Coordinator

DEFINITION
To assist the Marketing Manager with promotions, marketing, and public relations; to actively pursue the full utilization of Cam-Plex as a multi-user convention and event facility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Exercise technical and/or functional supervision of voluteers as required.
Receive direction from Marketing Manager.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Contact prospective businesses, organizations, and associations on a local, regional, and national level to solicit conventions and meetings.
- Offer presentations to local agencies and community groups in order to inform them of Cam-Plex activities.
- Update and publish Cam-Plex web site to search engines.
- Update and maintain event planning guide.
- Responsible for Winter Western advertising while adhering to assigned budget.
- Coordinate with local hotels to serve as a clearinghouse for special events.
- Assist in the development, coordination and layout of the convention bid packets including facility information, general information, extra curricular events, recommend lodging,
financial cost, and community support; contact lodging, city and county officials for their written endorsements.
- Work closely with Marketing Manager in organizing, promoting, and scheduling special events and preparing promotions, giveaways, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, receptions,
lodging, and transportation.
- Work closely with event organizers to meet any additional needs or requirements, including but not limited to catering, concessions, trade show, lodging, extra curricular
activities, set up, transportation, decoration, clerical service, telephone, fax, and copying service.
- Act as a Cam-Plex liaison during the actual convention and provide information on Cam-Plex, Gillette, and Campbell County to insure a smooth and efficient convention.
- Active in the development, planning, implementation, and review of the overall marketing campaign for Cam-Plex and Cam-Plex sponsored events.
- Work closely on the development of radio, television, and print advertising as directed by the Marketing Manager; notify media through press releases of upcoming conventions and
events.
- Attend out-of-town trade shows and conventions in an effort to promote Cam-Plex and bring events to the facilities.
- Operate modern office machines and equipment including computers, typewriters, printers, copiers, calculators, and fax machines; routinely use a full range of word processing
and spread sheet computer software applications.
- Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; serve on committees as assigned.

Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of marketing, sales, promotions, and public relations.
- Principles and techniques used in interacting with the public.
- Principles of Web page development.
- Prinicples and practices of public speaking.
- Budget preparation and administration.
- Print design and production techniques for advertising.
- Computer programing/data querying techniques.
- Principles and practices of working safely.
Skill to:
- Operate modern office equipment.
Ability to:
- Work extended hours as necessary during events.
- Travel out of town.
- Plan and organize work to meet schedules and time lines.
- Create and prepare advertising brochures, flyers, etc. for promotional use, utilizing specialized software.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate new marketing methods, techniques and ideas.
- Analyze complex information and exercise independent judgement.
- Effectively interact with a very diverse customer base.
- Exercise good judgement, flexibility, creativity, and sensitivity in response to changing situations and needs.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent to experience and
training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Experience:
- Three to four years experience.
Education/Training:
- Equivalent to two years of college or trade apprenticeship and/or specialized training.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must be current or obtained within a specified time frame as defined upon employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Essential duties require the following:
Working Environment:
- Minimal exposure to undesirable working conditions or exposure. Out of town travel. Work extended hours during events.
Physical Activities:
- Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for minimal physical activity such as sitting, standing, walking and crouching/stooping/squatting.
