★Recruiting Detention Officers ★Applications will be accepted until position is filled.Pre-Employment Forms Detention Officer Job Description Physical Fitness Requirements for Deputies and Detention Officers Employee Rights and Responsibilities Under the Family and Medical Leave Act ★Recruiting Detention Officers ★ PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING IS CONDUCTED The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for Detention Officers. Detention Officers are responsible for inmate booking, movements, care and orientation; maintain order and discipline among inmates; safely operate department equipment and vehicles, file reports, testify in court; carry and qualify with a firearm. Minimum Qualifications: U.S. citizen; 21 years of age; possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.; corrected vision to 20/20; a valid state driver’s license; no felony or domestic violence convictions. Testing Process: The initial testing process may take up to two days. Applicants must meet department standards on the written exam, physical fitness test and pre-background interview to be eligible to advance to the background investigation. To meet standard on the physical fitness test, applicants must meet the 40th percentile level in each category assessed; see attached “Physical Fitness Pre-Employment Standards” sheet. This fitness test is physically strenuous. A.D.A. regulations prohibit us from asking applicants whether you are physically able to participate in the physical fitness test. As such, it is your responsibility to make this determination. We recommend to applicants whose physical condition is in question that you see your personal physician prior to participating. Gym shorts or sweat pants and tennis shoes are recommended for the physical fitness test. Applicants who successfully complete the initial test phase and a conditional offer of employment is made, further screening will be scheduled including a polygraph exam, a psychological assessment, and a medical physical exam (includes a pre-employment drug screening). To Apply: Applicant must complete an “Application for Employment” and a “Personal History Statement” to be considered for a Detention Officer position. Please submit (mail, drop off or fax) both documents by September 4, 2012 to: Campbell County Sheriff’s Office The “Personal History Statement” document will be used as the basis for a background investigation that will determine your eligibility for employment. Please read the instructions carefully before completing this document. It is essential that the information provided on this form be complete and accurate in all respects. Providing accurate and thorough information to your background investigator will enable him/her to complete your background check promptly. The documents that you will be asked to supply with the Personal History Statement are listed on the cover sheet (Instructions to the Applicant). Please do NOT mail or attach ORIGINAL/CERTIFIED documents to your application (submit only copies at this time). Bring original/certified documents when requested. In addition, fingerprints will be taken at the conclusion of your pre-background interview. Candidates are asked to critically assess their own background in light of the potential disqualifiers listed below, and if any apply, withdraw prior to starting the testing process. This list is not designed to be an all-inclusive listing of disqualifiers. Examples of Potential Disqualifiers: Felony conviction If any of the potential disqualifiers listed above apply to you, you may be disqualified. Also, admissions of undetected criminal activity may be subject to criminal investigation and prosecution. Starting pay rate is $20.55 per hour plus excellent benefits. Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance (single/family premiums paid by the county); accidental death/dismemberment and long term disability insurance (employee premium paid by county); a retirement program; and paid sick, vacation, and holiday leave. The following programs are optional: low-cost vision and supplemental life (employee responsible for premium); Flex Benefits, and a Deferred Compensation Program available through the State of Wyoming. When hired as a Detention Officer, you must become certified with the State of Wyoming Peace Officers Standards Training Commission within one year of your date of hire. The department will send new hires to the state training facility (Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas, WY) to the appropriate certification course. In addition to classroom instruction, officers must pass the training academy’s physical fitness standards, custody control, and firearms proficiency training. You must be willing to agree and sign a “Pre-Service Reimbursement Agreement” to remain employed at Campbell County Sheriff’s Office for two (2) years or repay the expenses of the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy’s training and/or completion of the department’s training program on a pro-rated basis.
