The City of Gillette and Campbell County, entered into an agreement on February 8, 1962, to operate and finance the Airport collectively.

The Campbell County Airport Board was formed by a Resolution for Organization, dated March 21, 1978.  On the same day, an Airport Agreement was signed by both the City of Gillette and Campbell County stating that Campbell County was solely responsible for the operations and finances of the Airport.  Within the resolution, both the City of Gillette and Campbell County agreed the Airport name would remain, the Gillette-Campbell County Airport.  The Airport has been operated ever since by a five (5) member board, pursuant to Wyoming Statute 10-4-103 (b)

Mission Statement

The mission of the Campbell County Airport Board is to provide a safe and secure environment for the commercial and general aviation community by providing: services, professional staff, coordination and cooperation with the Campbell County Board of Commissioners, the Wyoming State Aeronautics Division and the Federal Aviation Administration.
