Summer Trips

The Campbell County Recreation Center offers summer activities for teens, 12-16 years of age.  These low-cost trips give your teen an opportunity to experience supervised, fun activities in the surrounding area.  They will have a great time and meet new friends all during your work day!  Check out the following programs scheduled:

Inflatable Laser Tag Arena - June 10
JR's Laser Tag is Gillette's newest 900 square foot inflatable laser tag arena.  Teams of up to 8 players battle each other with laser guns, dodging the beams of their opponents and returning fire.  Enjoy the excitement of battle as you travel through the fog and black lights inside the obstacle laser tag maze.  We will meet at the Recreation Center at 2:00 p.m. and play inside the Field House.  Pick up will be at 4:00 p.m.

FEE:  $20 per person
*Limited to 24 participants.

Primetime Paintball Trips - June 13 & August 15
Calling all paintball fanatics! Bring your friends and join us for an exciting afternoon of fun and friendly competition - playing paintball in nearby fields outside of town.  Splat your way into fun and register today!  We will leave the Recreation Center at 1:00 p.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  June 8 & August 10
FEE:  $25 per person, includes transportation - paintball gun rental, hopper, safety mask, CO2 and one bag of 500 paintballs. 
**Limited to 20 participants per trip

Geocaching - June 17
Geocaching is a fun way for youth to learn how to navigate a GPS (Global Positioning System) while searching for a hidden treasure or cache.  This will involve a short training session at the Recreation Center and a hike to locate hidden caches.  Bring your own snacks and drinks.  We will meet at the Recreation Center at 1:00 p.m. and will return by 5:00 p.m.

FEE:  $10 per person, transportation and GPS units provided.

Jump Craze Trampoline Park - July 15
Bounce in the Black Hills just in time for summer!  Join us at the Rapid City Trampoline Park. Show off your mad skills in 1 of 3 foam pits - launching off of trampolines into 20 foot pits full of foam blocks.  While also having time to show off your basketball moves in the Dunk Zone using an angled trampoline wall.  If that's not enough to get you excited - How about a game of Trampoline Dodgeball?  We will leave the Recreation Center at 9:00 a.m. and will return by 5:00 p.m. Everyone must bring a sack lunch.

Kleenburn Ponds Fishing Trip - July 18
This trip takes you to Sheridan County for a day of fishing at Kleenburn Ponds.  The Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Tensleep Fish Hatchery keeps the ponds well stocked with catchable size rainbow trout, largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish and yellow perch.  Bring your own fishing gear and lunch.  We will meet at the Recreation Center at 9:00 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m.

FEE:  $15 per person, includes transportation.
*Fishing license required for anyone 14 years of age or older.

Horseback riding & Broken Boot Gold Mine - August 1
Horse riding for beginners should be fun and exciting!  If you are new to horses then hang on and experience horseback riding on Deer Mountain in Lead, South Dakota with us.  Andy's Trail Rides will lead the adventure with well-trained and well-loved horses.  Andy will guide us on one of the best trail rides in the Black Hills.  In the afternoon, we will still have time to explore Black Hills best underground mine tour.  We will tour and discover the mysteries of old-time gold mining and try our luck at panning for gold.  We will leave the Recreation Center at 9:00 a.m. and will return at 5:00 p.m.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  July 27
FEE: $55 per person, includes transportation, two hours of horseback riding and admission into Broken Boot Gold Mine.
