Reference Librarian
Campbell County Public Library (CCPL)

Campbell County Public Library is searching for an innovative, knowledgeable, and technology-proficient Reference Librarian to join our management team. Must love emerging technologies, collaborating with colleagues to create exceptional experiences for patrons, and providing first-class customer service. Position supervises staff, develops print and electronic collections, coordinates public technology, compiles statistics, and provides bibliographic instruction to the public.

Requirements: equivalent to a Master’s degree in Library Science (preferred) or a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field, five years of library experience and two years of progressively responsible supervisory experience. Submit application, resume, and letter of interest by 5pm 3/6/19. EOE

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Librarian position manages, directs, and supervises the Reference Services Department; provides patron assistance and instruction in the use of collections, equipment, and electronic resources; performs independent research; evaluates and selects nonfiction and reference materials in both print and electronic formats; manages technology projects; supervises Reference Services Specialists, Generalists, and Volunteers; develops and executes database training geared to Campbell County School District students.
EXPERIENCE Five to six years of professional library experience including at least two years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
EDUCATION/TRAINING Equivalent to a master’s degree in Library Science preferred or bachelor’s degree in a closely related field.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT Minimal exposure to undesirable working conditions; work regular evening and weekend hours.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for activity such as sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching/stooping/squatting, twisting upper body and lifting an average of 25 lbs.; pushing and pulling loaded book carts; lifting and carrying audiovisual equipment and library materials; standing for extended periods of time.
