Campbell County Public Library is pleased to welcome Jennifer Pharr Davis, hiker, author, speaker, and National Geographic Adventurer of the Year who has covered over 14,000 miles of long distance trails on six different continents. Davis will share trail adventures and lessons about endurance during her slide show and reading from her book "The Pursuit of Endurance: Harnessing the Record Breaking Power of Strength and Resilience."

Jennifer, a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year and record setter of the Appalachian Trail's FKT (fastest known time), has written six books, articles for the New York Times, Outside magazine, Backpacker, and Trail Runner, and has been featured in the Washington Post, the New York Times, NPR’s Talk of the Nation and the CBS Early Show. Her newest book The Pursuit of Endurance (Viking) came out in April of 2018 and has been called "a captivating narrative guidebook that will inspire readers to test their own limits, on the trail and off” (Kirkus Reviews). She is founder and owner of Blue Ridge Hiking Company, a guiding service that strives “to make the wilderness accessible and enjoyable” for hikers of all ages, genders, and ability levels.

In The Pursuit of Endurance, Pharr Davis reveals the secrets and habits behind endurance as she chronicles the incredible accomplishments of leading athletes in the world of endurance hiking, backpacking, and trail running. With a storyteller's ear for detail and description, Davis distills complex rituals and histories into easy to understand tips and action items that will empowers readers to leverage new-found grit and achieve personal bests in everything from sports and family to the boardroom.

Jennifer lives in Asheville, North Carolina, with her husband Brew and their five-year-old daughter Charley and their one-year-old son Gus.
