Audie Murphy performed by Duffy Hudson

Thursday, July 19, 2018

Campbell County Public Library (CCPL) is pleased to welcome actor, director, writer, teacher and filmmaker Duffy Hudson, performing as World War II hero Audie Murphy, to your library.

Hudson, voted Best One Man Show in Los Angeles, is a master impersonator who brings his talent to life in this fascinating performance.

Audie Murphy was one of the most decorated American combat soldiers of World War II. He received every military combat award for valor available from the U.S. Army, as well as French and Belgian awards for heroism. After the war, Murphy embarked on a 21-year acting career. He played himself in the 1955 autobiographical film To Hell and Back (the August CCPL Movie Night movie), based on his 1949 memoirs of the same name, but most of his roles were in westerns. He made guest appearances on celebrity television shows and starred in the series Whispering Smith.

Duffy Hudson: "I feel honored to perform this show and am always touched, moved and inspired to see our veterans in the audience. I have had the pleasure to perform this show in Audie’s hometown during the annual “Audie Murphy Days” in Greenville and Farmersville, Texas. I have had the honor of performing for and meeting childhood friends of Audie, the family who took Audie in when he was orphaned, and Captain John Heard of the 3rd Infantry Division who fought side by side with Audie Murphy. Thank you Audie Murphy for this opportunity."
