Celebrate northeast Wyoming’s homesteading roots at the 2018 Homestead Heritage Festival on July 21st at the Rockpile Museum! This free indoor/outdoor event features performances of Basque dance and bluegrass music, threshing machine demonstrations, skilled traditional artists and craftsmen sharing their talents, and many hands-on activities for adults and children alike. The event kicks off at 10:00 AM with the Big Horn Basque Club dancers. All demonstrations and hands-on stations will be open from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. At noon, the Low Water String Band will give a bluegrass concert in the field between the Rockpile Museum and Fire Station #1. There will be three scheduled demonstrations of a 1953 J.J. Case threshing machine. Other activities will include soap-making, blacksmithing, Dutch oven cooking, spinning and weaving, the Hiram Gee Bilgewater wagon camp, felting, wool carding, doll-making, candle-dipping, leathercraft, wheat-grinding, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more.
