Stories from the Iditarod

Thursday, June 6, 2019

Campbell County Public Library (CCPL) welcomes Karen Land to speak at the library on Thursday, June 6 at 6:30pm. Land is a writer, public speaker, wilderness advocate, and three-time veteran of the Iditarod, the Alaskan sled dog race deemed “the last great race on earth.”

Land, along with her Alaskan husky Noggin, will share tales of their mushing adventures. Learn about the dogs, training, clothing, equipment, and challenges that go along with sled dog racing. Land will also discuss the Iditarod itself, a sled dog race that began in 1973 as a tribute to the sled dogs that delivered medicine from Anchorage to Nome, AK, during a diphtheria outbreak in the 1920s.

This free event is co-sponsored by Gillette Pet Vet Clinic and is appropriate for all ages.
