Saturday, April 22, 2017

Elizabethan Era Dance facilitated by Professor Joey West

Gillette College Pronghorn Center Flex Space: Friday, April 21 • 2pm and 6pm • Free

Campbell County Public Library: Saturday, April 22 • 12pm • Free

Professor Joey West will be teaching a variety of dances and dance styles in his Renaissance dance course that will include a pavan, a Spanish pavan (pavaniglia) with its intricate footwork, the virtuoso galliard (cinque passi, cinq pas, sinkapace), tordion, the gavotte, the battaglia and the balli.

Professor West grew up in Green River, WY. A deep love for the theatre was instilled in him at a young age through his professional ballerina mother and performances in Sweetwater County Performing Arts Guild productions. He went on to earn his BA in Music-Vocal Performance and Theatre Performance, MA in Acting, and MFA in Theatre Arts. In 2012-2013, he served as interim head of the BFA in Musical Theatre program at the University of Wyoming. He was Western Wyoming College’s Theatre and Dance director and department chair in 2013-2014 and is now an elementary music teacher at a charter school in Utah.

"A wonderful time will be had by all and I hope to see you in class!" says Professor West.
