Holiday Spirit Day with Santa and Craig Johnson

Wednesday, December 9, 2020

Stop by Wright Branch Library on Wednesday, December 9 at 3:45pm and Campbell County Public Library on Thursday, December 10 (schedule below) for a building-wide Christmas celebration offering fun for the whole family.

WBL: Wednesday, December 9, 3:45pm
•Wright Branch Library celebrates the season with an outdoor program. Come make pine cone bird feeders to decorate the library’s trees, enjoy hot cocoa, and take a group picture with Santa, who will be escorted to WBL by firetruck. Snow permitting, there will be a snowman-building competition as well!

•Teen Cookie Decorating 3:30pm and 4:30pm
• Visit Santa 4-6
• Craig Johnson—virtually 6:30pm

•Teens: Come down to the Teen Room to learn how to professionally decorate a Christmas cookie with our very own staff member, Sarah. Sarah runs her own baking business and she’s ready to teach you the tricks of cookie decorating. Teens in grades 7 through 12 can call the Teen Room desk at 687.9227 to sign up for one of the two sessions we are offering: 3:30-4:30pm, or 4:30-5:30pm. Enrollment is limited. Reserve your spot!

•Kids: Santa arrives at CCPL at 4pm and he tells us he will be able to stay until 6pm to hear all your Christmas wishes. Join us in the Wyoming Room between 4pm and 6pm to visit with Santa and take pictures with our photo backdrops. Then, wander into the Children’s Department to listen to our read-aloud holiday stories and receive a take-home craft. Wear your festive clothes and get in the spirit with us!

•Adults: Wyoming author Craig Johnson, a local favorite, will help us get into the holiday spirit by sharing his annual Christmas story—this time with a 2020 twist. Rather than joining us in person in Gillette, Johnson will read his annual Christmas story from the comfort of his own home and join us in a virtual space instead. The library will offer Johnson’s visit via Zoom at 6:30pm December 10. Fans are welcome to attend in-person in the Wyoming Room (attendance limited to 50), where Johnson’s visit will be projected on our big screen, or from home on your personal device.
Tune in to our YouTube channel to watch this live event: Christmas with Craig Johnson
Fans can purchase signed copies of Johnson’s books via his website, Johnson’s book Spirit of Steamboat is the December CCPL book discussion title. Pick up a book at the library and join our in-person discussion on December 15 or Zoom discussion on December 16; both events are at 6pm.

If you can’t join us at either of these events, we hope you will still make a visit to Campbell County Libraries during December. Our staff Christmas committees work hard to transform our buildings; you’re certain to enjoy the décor, and to find a large selection of holiday books and movies that you can check out to enjoy at home.

Wishing you a festive holiday season,
