CCPL Truth in Political Discourse

Thursday, May 2, 2019

Fake news is everywhere! To help discern fact from fiction, the Campbell County League of Women Voters, Friends of the Library, and Campbell County Public Library are pleased to welcome Doug Dumbrill, J.D., to the library for a two-part presentation titled Truth in Political Discourse. Dumbrill is a Gillette attorney and adjunct political science professor at Gillette College. Dumbrill will discuss truth from a philosophical standpoint on April 25. Truth can be hard to define and his first discussion will help attendees understand why the truth isn’t always simple. On May 2, Dumbrill’s presentation will look at ways to determine what is truth in media. When a news story comes from mainstream media, surely it’s true…isn’t it? Don’t miss this opportunity that will help you figure out if that trending story is reliable.
