In 1990, President George H. W. Bush designated the month of November to be “National American Indian Heritage Month,” since changed by Presidential Proclamation in 2009 to “National Native American Heritage Month.” November is set aside to pay honor to the history, culture, and contributions of all Native American cultures, and to encourage all Americans to celebrate the contributions of the American Indians and urge the peoples of the United States to learn more about the American Indian cultures. The Rockpile Museum is proud to be hosting the Rencountres in celebration of National Native American Heritage Month.
