    The Rockpile Museum invites the public to come out and celebrate the 47th anniversary of the opening of the Museum on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. All guests will receive FREE ADMISSION to the museum during our regular hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. “The Rockpile Museum Board and Staff want to make sure that everyone can enjoy what the museum has to offer, so we have planned occasional free admission days to help those who may not be able to afford admission or membership. What better day for a free day than our 47th Birthday,” said Museum Director Robert Henning. Living Historian and Storyteller Joyce Jefferson is our Artist-in-Residence this week and on Wednesday she will be telling the story of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Blair (1859-1943) at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Our friends from Wyo Taco and The Ice Cream Café will also be at the museum to serve up delicious lunch and cold treats for anyone interested in purchasing lunch or dessert while at the museum.

    The Rockpile Museum is pleased to host South Dakota Humanities Speakers Bureau Scholar, Living Historian, and Storyteller Joyce Jefferson. Joyce provides First Person Living History programs that tell the stories of Dakota Territory and South Dakota Sheroes. Ms. Jefferson will be appearing as part of the ongoing Black & Yellow Theatre: Voices of the Powder River Basin programming at the Rockpile Museum. All Black & Yellow Theatre programs are included in the price of Museum Admission. Jefferson’s appearances will feature the life stories of four African American women who made a name for themselves from Northeast Wyoming to the Black Hills. Program subjects and times will be: Monday, July 19, 2021 – Sarah “Aunt Sally” Campbell (1823-1888) at 10am & 3pm. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 – Mary Kercherval (1833-1921) at 10am & 3pm.
